Dropdown
The dropdown block presents a list of predefined options so respondents can choose from a compact menu. It works well when you want structured answers from a longer option list.
Common use cases include selecting team, role, country, service type, priority level, or any standardized intake category in FormGenyus workflows.
How it works
Type /dropdown to insert a dropdown question. Add your question title, then define answer options in the block settings.
By default, respondents choose one option from the list. Dropdown options are searchable from the input menu during response entry.
Dropdown settings
Bulk insert options
Add many choices quickly by pasting option lists into the dropdown options editor.
Randomize options
Enable randomize to vary option order across respondents when needed.
Add placeholder text
Dropdown blocks support placeholder text behavior in runtime/schema and can guide respondents on expected selection.
Allow other option
Turn on Allow other to let respondents provide a custom value outside the predefined option list.
Multiple selection
You can convert dropdown into multi-select mode by enabling Multiple selection.
In multi-select mode, FormGenyus supports minimum and maximum choice limits using min_choice and max_choice settings.
Customize the dropdown
To customize a dropdown block, edit options, toggle required state, switch single/multiple behavior, and configure option settings from the block options menu.
For dynamic follow-up behavior, combine dropdown answers with Conditional logic in your form flow.
